Website Promotion Exercise - Ranking Higher In Google

Friday, March 6th, 2009
by Matt Hellstrom

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money on the internet, and if you really want to learn how to do it you need to check out Wordpress Goldmine by Mark Thompson. Wordpress Goldmine is a training manual and more for people who really want to learn how to make money with Wordpress Blogs. Mark came up with a fun contest lately - to see who could rank highest for a keyword phrase. The phrase we decided to battle over was Website Promotion Exercise, which is just what we were going to do.

At first I thought I better skip this one, but then I said to myself “This might be fun, and maybe I can win. (Pretty competitive, I am). Plus, I figured I might be able to learn something, and sharpen my SEO skills. So here’s part of my plan.

Here’s my plan - let’s see how it works:

The first thing I’m going to do is create an article that’s around 400-500 words. Then, I’m going to post it on my business builder’s blog, www.onlinebusinessbuffet.com. I’ll try to strategically place the term “website promotion exercise” in 3 or 4 places in the article, at the beginning and end mainly.

Secondly, I’m going to write the article in several short paragraphs, as that’s the requirement of the tool that I’m going to use to create back links. Back links are simply links to your primary article from various websites and/or blogs. The more quality back links you have to your article, the higher its going to rank on Google.

Next, I’ll use the tool to create many, many unique versions of my article, and post them all over the internet. The name of that tool is Unique Article Wizard - I love it for creating quality back links. After that, I’m going to visit several social bookmarking sites and post links and versions of my article out there - getting me more back links, and possibly even ranking high on Google with these articles.

Lastly, I’m going to use another inexpensive tool, RSSBot, to submit my blog to many different Feed Aggregators, once again to create quality back links to my article.

This is my plan - check back to see how my website promotion exercise performs!

On a side note, you can learn all about creating Wordpress micro-niche blogs promoting affiliate products with the top-notch Wordpress Goldmine manual and members-only forum. The forum is such a great place to share ideas with like-minded marketers, and get tons of valuable advice from Mark himself. You really need something like this to keep up with the fast-paced world of affiliate marketing. I believe that the $50 I spend on Wordpress Goldmine is the best investment I’ve made yet in the realm of creating a growing income that will eventually help me quit my day job!

Five Ways to Double your Website Traffic in 60 Days

Friday, March 6th, 2009
by Daniel Z. Kane

Without traffic, your website will fail: it’s not open to argument. The design can be terrific, your product may be wonderful, and your prices may be low, but none of that matters if nobody visits your site.

Many webmasters spend a lot of money on advertising. They purchase large email campaigns, advertise on Google and Yahoo, and even buy radio and TV time. But, fortunately, you do not have to make expenditures of that magnitude.

Here is how you can generate plenty of traffic on a budget.

1. My favorite traffic generating technique is article wrting. That’s because it works…and it works quickly. The methodology is simple: write a few articles that the kinds of folks likely to visit your site will find interesting. Send them to article distribution websites…there are several services and software tools which make it simple. End each article with an author’s box (like mine, below) which includes a link or two to your website. Webmasters in need of content will reprint your article on their sites, and you will gain a link each time they do.

2. Exchanging links with other webmasters is a time tested way to generate immediate traffic and boost your site’s search engine rankings. Remember that, in link building, quality often trumps quantity. Concentrate on webmasters whose sites cover topics on or related to yours, and sites of high quality.

3. One way link building is even better than exchanging links because the search engines are more “impressed” by one way links than reciprocals. If your website is good enough or if you can offer webmasters an ebook, a widget, or something else of value, try for some one way links.

4. If you are not yet blogging, you are missing a great opportunity. The search engines love blogs. A post a week is optimal, but even a post a month can help. Be sure your website links to your blog and your blog links to your website(s).

5. Just as website owners need content, so do bloggers. Offer to write guest blogs (followed by an author’s box with a description of and link to your site).

6. One of the least utilized traffic generation tools is the press release. Press releases can be picked up by hundreds of websites, giving you hundreds of (almost) instant links. There are several services which will distribute your website (some at no cost) and at least 3-4 pieces of software you can use to get your releases out.

I realize that not everyone can write. If you are “writing challenged”, don’t despair. You might have to search around awhile, but there are folks who write blog posts and/or articles for less than $10. Press release are generally more, but the cost is not prohibitive. Remember, your potential return for each project can be hundreds of links. And, you know what that means.

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009
by Miriam Z. Tomkowski

There are a lot of families being affected by the slowing economy. People all over the World are looking for ways to make extra money. Some have went out and secured part time jobs, if they can find them, while others have turned to other means of earning extra money. A lot of people are turning to the Internet for help.

Even if you have no skills, there is still hope for you. Some methods only require you to be able to use a computer and know how to surf the Internet. There is good news if you’re one of these people. There are simple and effective ways to earn extra money on the Internet. These methods require no specialized skills or huge outlay of money. Most people will find they can find one way or another to make extra income on the Internet

One of the most popular ways the Average Joe is making money on the Internet is Ebay. For many years now, stay at home Mom’s and Dad’s have been earning good money using online auctions. They drive around on the weekends visiting Garage sales and Estate Auctions. Some even browse Craigslist for items to resell on ebay.

Another source of Income and products to sell at online auctions is Craigslist. The free section has been a goldmine for me. I generally find free stuff and then turn around and sell it on ebay. Sometimes you can even find real bargains on other products and sell them on ebay for a marked up price.

Some of you have special knowledge of programs such as MS Office, Quicken or PhotoShop. These skills are in demand and you can become a Freelancer just by advertising your services on Craigslist or browsing the Forums such as DigitalPoint. You’ll also find people needing your services at sites like elance, getafreelancer and others. More than one person has started a successful small business in this manner.

Many small businesses have been started by people advertising their offline businesses on Craigslist and other free classified sites. Most cities of any size will have other opportunities to advertise online at either free or low cost. These sites can bring in a load of people willing to pay you for your services.

Should you decide to go the Freelancer route, just be sure to research any opportunity you come across. There are a lot of shady websites out there looking to scam would-be Internet entrepreneurs.

If you love spending time in your shop creating crafts, why not sell those online? There are a lot of places you can sell crafts. There is a steady market of people looking to buy handmade crafts for loved ones. Try craft sites like Etsy and even Ebay.

There’s no reason that most people can’t make extra money online. All it takes is a little bit of effort, patience and a willingness to succeed. You’ll likely won’t become rich, but you should be able to earn extra money online so you can keep the lights on!

7 Ways to Enhance Your Twitter Experience

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009
by Matt Hellstrom

Twitter is a great way to connect with your friends and colleagues. What is Twitter, you ask? It’s what’s called a micro-blogger, a website where you can post little message of 140 characters or less about what you’re doing, and they get broadcast out to anyone that’s following you. You’re messages can be about anything, but if you’re an internet marketer they should be a combination of business and personal ones.

For you internet marketers, obviously you’re going to want some of your “tweets” to be concerning your business. For example, if you post a new Squidoo lens, tweet it. If you learn about a cool new website, let your followers know.

But you need to find a happy medium. If you just post business tweets, people are going to think you don’t have a life (and they may be right!). This is web 2.0, social networking, and you need to be social. Find something to talk about - anything - other than your business and you’ll keep your followers interested for much longer.

Maybe you like to play the piano, or read romance novels. Tell people about the good ones! Maybe you’re a Packers fan and you can’t believe Brett Favre is wearing a Jets uniform. Maybe you like to knit, crochet, or macrame (does anyone still do that). Whatever it is, let people know once in awhile and they’re sure to like you more.

There are a few ways to make your twittering more effective and efficient. I’m going to give you seven ideas about what I do.

1. Find a bunch of people to follow. What you need to do is find someone that has similar interests as you and follow everyone they are following. Eventually, you’re going to get to the point where you’re following 2000 people, and twitter won’t let you follow any more. They must have some kind of system where they limit you to 2000 unless you have more people following you, because I have seen people that are following more than 2000. Here’s what will happen - if you follow enough people, many of them will follow you back. At that point, send them a friendly message, and invite them to take a look at your blog.

2. Follow your followers. Before you know it, people are going to start following you that you didn’t follow first. Go ahead and follow them back, and send them a tweet with your blog address in it. If you can’t follow any more because you’re at the limit, delete a few that don’t have pictures and haven’t followed you. Those guys probably aren’t too serious about Twitter anyway. This brings up my next point.

3. Make your site you. Write a blurb about yourself, and include something personal, not just your business stuff. Put a picture on there, show your blog address, and add a background. Don’t forget, you’re trying to be social even if that comes hard for you.

4. Go into your Facebook account and add the Twitter application. You’re not on Facebook? Well fix that problem now! You absolutely must be on Facebook if you’re serious about social marketing, it’s that important. The way that works is when you make a post on Twitter, it will post the same thing on Facebook. Twice as many people will see what you’re doing with the same amount of effort.

5. Check out twhirl.com. This is a program you download to your computer that sits on your desktop and display tweets from others without having to have your browser open. Of course, you can post your own tweets there, too. One neat thing about twhirl is it has a built-in url shortener in it. If you have a long link to post, you might now have enough space. In twhirl, you can just enter the link into a box and click “shorten” and you’ll get a short link that you can use in your tweet.

6. If you have one or more blogs, use twitterfeed. Twitterfeed automatically posts any new entries to twitter, and consequently Facebook. It works off your RSS feed and checks periodically for new blog posts, and if it sees any it sends out a tweet! This is just one more way to save yourself time and not have to remember so much. Set it up for free at twitterfeed.com.

7. Sign up for automatic updates from ezinearticles.com. In the profile section of that site, you can put in your twitter username and password and it will automatically set out a tweet when an article you wrote gets approved. Very cool.

There you go! 7 ideas to make twitter better. Get out there and start tweeting soon. It will help to develop your web of content and get people to notice what you’re doing!

Understanding Pay Per Click

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009
by Dennis Durrel

The internet is filled of jargon that might very mix up the everyday person. pay per click is correctly that type of jargon. It might sound puzzling but it is actually very a fairly simple marketing plan to understand.

Pay per click, or PPC, is actually a model of advertising that was developed for use on internet search engines. The entire concept hinges on the fact that the advertiser will only be charged for the times that prospective customers click on their advertisement.

This is really an economic option for advertisers because they will not be spending additional money simply to have their advertisement posted. Instead, they are only responsible for when their advertisements elicit potential interest.

To do this advertisers will bid on special keyword phrases that they want to trigger their advertisements. This way, when a potential customer is performing an internet search for that phrase or word their advertisement will be one of the first things to pop up.

That offers the advertiser the visibility that they wish for, so that their merchandise name is out there in front of the consumer. Then when the users clicks on the advertisement the advertiser is paid hence the name “pay per click!
